Hi Guys
I have a 97 and the flexable fuel lines under the oil cooler on the drivers side are leaking off and on. Not when it is running but after I shut it down i will get a spot on the ground, not all the time.
Are there O rings in the lines that are replaceable or do I need to replace the lines? The local Ford dealer says that only one is available anymore, does anyone know where else I can find them?
There are O rings in them but I am not sure if they are replaceable. If they are leaking at the front (motor)end it is more than likely the metal line if it is rusted. They are very difficult to "quick disconnect" them because of all the road grim that gets built up in the connector. Many people just replace the flex lines with standard diesel rated hose or fuel injected rated hose. These are low pressure lines so you can use these. I have been told that regular fuel line hose will degrade and leak so find some diesel or fuel injection rated hose.
On my mason dump Powerstroke, both line were bad and what I did was just used 30r9 diesel fuel injecton rubber lines. I cut off the quick connections all together and double clamped both ends and that was in 2003. Still working great and easy to install the rubber lines up front of engine to the vally
