The LUK clutch kit apparently fits all three engines...so theoretically the RAM should also? I did see one mention that although the 300 flywheel was drilled for an 11" clutch, the holes take a different bolt than the 10" pattern...not sure if that is true, but one more thing to cross of the "checked" list...
I shot an email to Ram and hope to hear from them soon. Summit management also sent an email (though they'd have phone #). Part of me wants it to be the wrong part. At least then I'd know what is making the horrible noises.
In the meantime I've ordered a replacement through Rock Auto, and this one is a 10" clutch. On their site, I could order an 11" for my application (91 f250 with a 4.9/zf5 combo) but they show the 11" was only for vehicles over 8,000 lbs. I could have walked into O'reiley's or Autozone, and bought one for about the same cost as RockAuto, but I don't like using their store brand parts. So I bought a Sachs clutch from RA.
I got an email back from Ram. It said that if my truck used an 11" clutch, then the the Ram88620 that I am running is the correct clutch. According to RockAuto, the 11" clutch was used only in trucks over 8500 lbs. Although the 4.9 flywheel is drilled for either a 10 or 11" clutch, the slave and clutch master might be different.
I bought a 10" clutch kit, a SACHS, and was surprised to see this on the box:
Interesting, even though the clutch says Valeo on it, and, made in South Korea.
