Hey guys. I'm new to Ford trucks having bought a pretty nice '94 F150 in April. The truck has the 300 6 with 5 speed.
The previous owner and myself have had trouble with the clutch. Occasionally the clutch doesn't engage entirely and it won't go into gear.
I've asked around and did some researching and found out that these trucks are notorious for having a weak firewall and thus the clutch master cylinder will move when the clutch pedal is depressed. Sure enough, that's the problem I have. I guess things fatigue and wear out after 220K+ miles.
I've found out that Ford offered a kit to reinforce the firewall in this area. But I'm having a hard time pinning down the exact part number, or even finding a source for this kit. Does anyone have a used one, a source for a new one, or even a template so I could make this plate myself?
Thanks in advance!
Just for grins, here's a picture of the truck. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out what other brand of truck I own...
Thanks, I'm happy with it. Has 223K miles on the clock, but you'd never know it by looking at it or driving it. I've driven it 5000 miles or so since buying it just 3 months ago. Seems to love to just go.
Thanks! Good to know that I'm not being kicked out for putting Studebaker tailgate letters on the back. My other truck is a '59 Stude pickup, so I had to make the two match...
Thanks Jim. However, I went to that site and got a discontinued message. Looks like this little piece is made of the elusive unobtanium. It's easier to find parts for my Studebaker!

I think they can still be had from old stock even if the part numbers shows them as discontinued.
