428 ID confirmation

For a while I've been wanting to build a 428 to replace the 390 in my 76 Hiboy. The other day I came across what I believe to be a disassembled 428 and am excited to start the build. I've read a bunch on FE identification but wanted to see what you all thought too. I'm feeling pretty confidant that I have a 428 block but does the data below provide any other info that I am missing?

Block
"428" cast into the water jacket
0F24 Date code (June 24 1970?)
Welded "C l" on back of the block (see photo)
"43 DIF" cast on side of block
No other casting numbers on the passenger slide forward of the freeze plug
15/64 drill bit shank does NOT pass between the cylinder walls

Crank is a 1U
Rods are C6AE-C and C7AE-B
Heads are C7AE-A

yes, forgot to add that part. Bore is 4.130.

I'll be sending it off to a machine shop for sonic checks in the next few weeks.

Good idea on the sonic check. What condition are the bores? Are you going to stay 428 or go stroker?

85e150 - The bores have surface rust but no pitting that I can see. Hope it will clean up with minimal over bore. Had not planned to stroke. Was just reading up on the options and that would be FUN!

baddad457 - That is what I was thinking too!

I'm super excited to get this off to the machine shop. Forgot to mention before. There are two rebuilder tags riveted to the block. The aluminum tag has bore, main, and rod measurements as standard, -.20, -.10 respectively. No info on the plate for the shop that did the work. The second plate, brass, has "E38560".

I need to go through the rest of my FE parts and figure out what all I want to use for this build.

I do. I have a Ford 1U with no other casting numbers that I can find and a aftermarket with no markings. Machine shop checked it and said its 428 and good candidate for my build. The aftermarket one has nice chamfered oil holes on the journals.

Might see about getting it internally balanced. I believe the 428's tended to be externally balanced.

Good point. I'll inquire about that with the shop.
