We are back home for the summer and with just under 2K pulling with it I still like it but did find that you have to check the bolts that lock the reciever tube so it can't move. The one thing I have found is the graphite dosen't make it you pull for 8 to 9 hundred miles with 3400lbs of pin wieght without unhooking to add more. I'm going to take a piece of my old teflon disk and cut a piece for the ball to ride on.

Not a bad idea, but I wonder if the ball will be too high to close the locking pin then? Not sure what the clearance is there normally.

What was happening to the ball that you have to use a solid lubricant?

I made the disk and when I get the trailer cleaned up and move it to the storage I will let you know.

Have you ever heard the ball on a travel trailer with a equlizer hitch that the ball is dry thats what it sounds like. I can see where its the ball and socket are wearing after long runs but on short hauls it's not a problem.

I made a 1.75 dia disk the other day and tried it yesterday and all the dry ball noise was gone. There was plenty of room for the latch to engage and there were no marks left on the ball to show it was dragging. I'm going to make a few spares just to have, you can see were the weight of the ball formed the disk into a dish shape.

I may have to try that when I get my unit!
I cancelled the order because they were on back order, figured I would order again for next camping season.

So is the ball actually sitting on your disk?

Yes the ball set on the disk, if I was making short run the graphite would have worked but at times we will do close to 1K before disconnecting when going cross country, we find places that will take us hooked up.

I also used two small pieces of seam putty to hold it in place when not hooked up.

The reason i asked about the weight as I have a 02 7.3 crew cab dulley stock tranny and the manual says 12,500lbs. How ever I talk to may that say they pull up to 20k with theirs. Just wondering how realistic that is.
