I wouldn't call you paranoid because I don't put it pass people, you might get one person out of say 5 years or even 10 years, if they see it they want it people are just crazy like that and especially in today time it look good.
Now that is ashamed you can't even give it away, lol.
Someone finally came by and hauled it away saved me from hauling it to a scrap yard.
Now that I have the adapter mounted on the pin when I get home and my shop I will probably drill half inch holes in the adapter and matching ones in the pin box and eliminate the 3/8 tightening bolts with 4 grade 8 1/2 inch bolts and pull it up tight against the pin box plate. I can see why they built it the way they did so it would fit all pin boxes, I can get to the inside of my box so it won't be a problem pulling it up tight.

Great when you do this install can you take some pics and post them please sir?
I had some time on my hands so I went back and played with the adapter and checked and found that the 3/8 threaded holes line up on the king pin if it rotated forward or to the back.
After finding that out I used the adapter to transfer the outer set of threaded holes to the pin box and drilled all of them to 1/2".
I used 1/2" bolts to mount the adapter to the pin box, I also locked the original tightening bolts just in case have to move it to different trailer.
Like it better than the way it was mounted originally with the 3/8 tensioning bolts, I'm sure it was plenty solid but this way I know it will go nowhere.

So what size are those bolts? Now you got me to thinking now, the wife and I are going to take our 5th wheel in this Friday to get some warranty work done and they suppose to keep it about little over a month the one thing they are suppose to do is to re-paint the cap and some other small items.
So you just drill those holes to 1/2 and did you re-tap them and then install the bigger bolts or did you just ran them through and put locking jam nut on one side?
After drilling the holes i just dropped the 1/2" bolts in from the pin box, a 1/2" drill is a clearance hole for a 1/2 bolt. I don't think all pin boxes will allow you to do it this way but you could also drill and tap pin box.
