Move the escutcheon away from the handle, not the door.
That was a big help in locating the pin, thx. However, it won’t come out. I pushed the collar back, put a drill bit in the hole and beat on it with a hammer, it won’t budge.
I soaked it with penetrating oil and will try again later, but I’m afraid I may need to drill it out, or possibly cut the shaft off. The regulator is shot anyway but I was hoping to use the old handle.
I'm not surprised, 72 year old truck will have things that won’t come apart. I’ve been lucky so far, this is the first thing that didn’t come apart after some persuasion.
Woo hoo...the penetrating oil did the trick. The pin came right out, and the handle took some persuading.
and on top of that, the regulator doesn’t look too bad, I think I can fix it. The handle shaft is really loose. I’ll drill the rivets out and see what’s the what what.
