Steering Stabilizer Conversion

I've seen these dual stabilizer kits all over the internet and some on this site as well. But I would like to know if I could do it myself. I have a 1975 f250 highboy with the Garrison steering box set up. I'm really confused on what everyone is doing with the left turn and right turn cylinder lines that come from the box down to the cylinder itself.

Your issues will not be the lines, but the Garrison cylinder placement itself. The duel shock axle mount does not have a clear place to go.

Maybe you need to look for a different type of dual shock steering stabilizer that uses a middle of the axle or closer to the pumpkin clamp set up and put the shocks in front of the steering arm? https://www.skysoffroaddesign.com/pr...ing-stabilizer

I plan on getting rid of the cylinder or maybe replacing it with a new one. Was driving the truck yesterday and had no steering, I checked what it was and the cylinder was just hanging in the air.

The rubber ends that bolt on the cylinder to the tie rod went down the road somewhere. That's why I was unsure if there was a way to have the Garrison box with normal steering shock stablizers but without the cylinder lines. It looks like you have a highboy as well but did you put a power steering box in for this?

No I do not have a HB. Ol Blue is a 78 F250 w/D44. That pretty blue one was a web shot to show you the duel steering set up in front of the steering linkage. Ah to have "power steering" you are going to need that ram connected to the axle and steering linkage.

Ah ok I gotcha I'll just replace the Garrison cylinder with a new one. Thanks!
Is there a good parts number I can go off of to find one?

There is no need for a steering stabilizer in the first place.

You're going to fight that POS steering set up for as long as you own the pickup. I'd put the money you're going to waste trying to keep it working into a conversion. the money you save in oil alone will pay for it over time.

I definitely agree with you I've already had to replace 3 hoses for the thing so I think it's time to get real power steering. Then maybe I will be able to use the dual shocks like I want.
