Back in 1995 I was looking to buy a new pick up and I came across a Crew Cab and Super Cab combination. I don't remember if the bed was a 6 or 8 but it was tall so I'm guessing it was 4wd or if it was a F250 or F350. The truck was parked at Red Hill Ford (now Sands Ford) in Red Hill, PA and wish now that I'd been able to take a photo of it. Obviously it wasn't a popular option as I've never seen a truck like it since. Has anyone ever seen a combination like that on a Ford truck before?
BTW, I ended up ordering a F350 Crew Cab 4wd with the International 7.3. I still drive it toady.
I always thought "crew cab" had 4 separate doors where the "super cab" was just an extended 2 door body, could have those small half-sized suicide doors?
Nick- you're right - that Centurian Ford site has photos of trucks similar to what I had seen at Red Hill. I saw the really long 6-door you mentioned. Guess that would be handy for a landscaping business that carries workers and pulls the equipment trailer. Now that's a big truck!
I was 4 wheelin down in Hatteras, NC one year, came off the beach and went into a store. When I came out there were 2 guys crawling around underneath my truck. Turns out they were from Paris, FR and had never seen a vehicle so big as my 4 door with the 8' bed. They were used to seeing only Minis and Smart Cars so the truck was amazing to them.
Thanks for the info and good luck getting your '97 back together. - Jack
JWA, Google Centurian Ford Truck and take a look at the modifications they made to pickups and Broncos. There's some pictures of what I was talking about and more.

Oh yeah---NOW I remember the name Centurion--have a friend who had one to pull his show horse trailer. It was just a simple crew-cab F350 body/chassis with an outlandishly leather covered interior. Details of its year or engine/transmission escapes me but he used it a few years---not sure what became of it though.
I believe the term "cowboy cadillac" originated from a few of their creations. IIRC my friend's Centurion looked something like this one:
I had a 1995 F-150 Super Cab. Loved the body style, but that 5.0L smog engine was fairly pathetic.
I was towing a 12 door U Crawl trailer eastbound on I-90/94 through Montana. Maybe 1 ton gross weight on the trailer. Came over the continental divide with my foot planted on the skinny pedal, doing about 22 MPH.

I pulled an 8 x 12 U-Haul box trailer into Brooklyn, NY, one time with my 76 F150 Supercab (360 engine). I don't remember having issues with power but the wind on the Verrazano Narrows Bridge kept blowing the empty trailer into the curbing by the side rails. I had to double park on the street to load some furniture when a door on the trailer came loose in the wind and swung into a taxi cab that just happened to be squeezing by. It left a big dent in the side of the taxi. But when the driver got out he was staggering around and smelled of booze. He said he was really sorry and then drove off. Whew! I know it has nothing to do with your comment except it jogged my memory when you mentioned your trailer experience.
