Crew cab or super cab?
Crew cab or super cab?
Thinking about a new 2011 SD. It'll be used 99% of the time as an RV, hauling a slide-in camper. There are 3 of us, two adults and a 9-year-old. I'm looking at a long bed crew cab or super cab. I prefer the super cab because the truck is shorter and costs less. But I don't want my kid outgrowing the rear seat by the time he's 16. Or would he? Would the back seat of a super cab hold a teenager during a long drive? Or is that asking for trouble? Thanks!
I would go with the crew cab. I am 6'5" and I only ever bought extended cabs. Then I got married, I dont have any kids, but I have a dog and tow a boat every weekend in the summer. I had to sit in the back of my super cab truck once when I had a few too many and let me tell you it sucks.
I will never go back to a super cab. Good luck, I would be happy with any 2011, but if I had the choic eit would be a crew cab all the way, you will out grow it trust me.

The only reason to get a Super Cab instead of a Crew Cab is if you want an excuse to get a new truck in 5 years when your kid is griping (rightfully so) about not having enough room in the back.

My 07 was a Super Cab, it was ok for the wife and I. The biggest problem was the doors. Go to Walmart, get a couple of cases of Soft Drinks and Adult beverages, and try and put them in the back seat by using the back doors. What a pain when you have cars parked next to you, the doors open the opposite way of a regular door and neary impossible to use unless you pull the truck out of the parking spot and into the flow of traffic.
We have an 01 F-150 Crew and my 250 08 is a Crew, nothing else from now on....

I've had 2 super cabs (still have 1) but mine are used as tow trucks. Most people tell me they are comfortable in back, but the front seats must come up some for rear leg room. The difference is, most people are in my my truck a short distance. For camping trips, definitely get the crew cab. You son would be fine, even at 16 in the super cab with the wife moving her seat up, for a couple hours. More than that, and he will really appreciate the crew.
It depends... How much room do you want your 16 year old son to have back there when he brings his girlfriend along on those camping trips?
Just kidding! Definitely get the crew cab!

Crew Cab totally. I had the same debate when I bought my truck, I decieded on a extended cab and kick myself everyday for not getting the crew cab. I top of that I get to hear the wife everytime we go on a trip " I told you to get the crew cab, but no you don't listen to me " >
