So guys I need some help! I recently purchased new headlights and led bulbs to replace my sealed beam halogen! I tried installing them and everytime I try to turn them on my low beams keep blowing the fuses!! My high beams work perfectly but low are blowing every time! Now the leds I have don’t have a ballast connected to them so I’m wondering do I need to get some with that or what? That’s what I’m guessing my problem is but I would love to hear what y’all have to say!

It would help if you told us what year/model truck you have …. What lights and fixtures did you buy? I went with Truck-lites, in my 99 7.3L, here’s my thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...tes-led-s.html
The LEDs are most likely pulling too much amperage. Or you have a short to ground
did you try doing it with the bulbs just hanging on the wiring? Maybe when you’re stuffing the headlight back in it’s crushing the wires?
I did try it before I put the housings in the truck so I’m pretty sure it isn’t a short! The leds didn’t come with a ballast resistor or anything just bulb and wire. That’s why I’m guessing I need to get a resistor or something because as soon as I clicked my lights on with the led the fuse blew in my low beam! I replaced the fuse and put the halogen back in and it worked fine

it’s a 08 F-250 and not sure what exact bulbs they are as they came with the headlight housing I ordered! I currently have sealed beams so I’m doing a h4/h13 conversion and the led bulbs I have do not have a ballast or anything with them so as soon as I turned on my lights it blew my low beam fuse. I replaced the fuse and put my halogen back in and works fine so I’m guessing I need a resistor or something?? These are pics of the lights and bulbs I ordered

did you try to see if the LED bulbs work just off the battery? Maybe one is bad. I used a set of LED bulbs and it was a simple plug and play. You may just have a bad LED

my high beam was working the whole time just my low wasn’t, then I did try it on the battery and both worked fine!

you’re drawing too much amperage for the rating of the fuse in the low beam circuit. Basically you need to make yourself that heavy duty wiring harness or buy one. Or if you’re electrically inclined you basically need to wire the LED bulbs through a relay and use the low beam positive as the turn on for the relays.
