Good evening all. My parking brake warning light came on while driving, intermittently at first. Would come on and go off for no obvious reason. I changed the switch under the dash, seemed to be ok for a bit. Now it is on constantly. Brakes work fine, no problems. Any ideas where to go from here? Driving me nuts.

Bad sensor in reservoir?
Maybe, that's among the list of possibilities. Could be a wiring concern, could be a cluster problem. Really need to perform the needed diagnostics to pinpoint the fault. Guessing gets expensive.

If you disconnect the wire from the brake light switch does the light still come on?
on mine i changed the parking brake sensor and the sensor on the mastercylinder .it was none of those. i bought a speedometer houseing on ebay close to same milage and all is ok. it is a solder joint in the houseing unit. cheaper to replace than repair. got mine delivered to the house for aroud 80.00. worth checking in to. took less than20 minutes to change out. look on you tube for videos. steve
If disconnecting the connector from the switch turns the light off, then there is a problem related to the switch. It could be defective, out of adjustment or there might be a connector concern. Could be a parking brake pedal that is not fully returning to the released position and is keeping the switch activated.
So I put the original switch back in same condition intermittent flashing parking brake light. Put the replacement switch I got it O'Reilly's back in after having problems with it intermittently now the parking brake light only goes on when I depress the parking brake pedal. I think I'm okay for now thanks guys!

Maybe the new switch is just a bit sticky from being new, or the pedal wasn't coming up all the way. At least the light is off for now, and should it come back you now know where to look.
Also make sure your spring is connected to the ebrake cable (underneath the truck along side the frame) is pulling/putting enough tension on the e brake cable and therefore on the ebrake pedal and pulling the pedal backup and maintaining pressure on the switch. All that when when you release the e brake.
I've been dealing with this issue as well.
Lots of research, and further fails of my cluster indicate the cluster itself has issues...relating to solder cracks.
My first issue (about 5 years ago) was the brake light intermittent on, and now constant on (replaced sensor on fluid tank, etc etc).
Then about a year ago the odometer back-light was intermittent and is now inoperative.
Recently discovered the low fuel light is inoperative.
I had an older F-150 cluster repaired by a guy who specializes in cluster repairs. It is fiddly work, and there are videos on-line showing how to do some of these repairs.
So it's back intermittently was off for a day maybe. If it's on I can Fonzie the dash by the light and it'll go off but it'll come back on soon. I'm ready to start thinking about repairing it. Thanks everybody for all your input.
