I need to get my speedometer reprogrammed and from what most people say, is to take it to the dealer. I called the local ford dealer and the service person had no clue. He kept asking me what's wrong with it and I said nothing. I said that I have a non stock tire size and I had change the rear gears. So he took my number down and called me back. Now here's where he lost me. He claims I need to leave the truck with them, the dealership so they can get information from my truck, then they need to send that information to ford and wait for ford to tell them how to proceed. If they can reprogram, it it would cost me $130 and if they can't reprogram it, they would charge me $70.
This to me sounds like the dealer has no clue what they're doing. Or is this how the dealership does this?
Called a seconded dealer and they told me to take it to a performance shop. Which I had already called a local 4x4 shop and they could only suggest buying a programmer.
It's not just you. I've been to 3 different dealerships and they've all told me how the Bambi mod is impossible. And how and changing the turn signal flash from 3 to 5 can't possibly be done.
I'm thinking Forscan is way beyond my technical abilities,

What little I read is the Forscan doesn't work on anything older than I think 2015 and yes it looks pretty complicated as well. i will call on the model I posted tomorrow to make sure it will work on my truck. One thing I thought about today is that my truck was recalibrated at one time. When I got the truck it had a 3.31 rear gear with 34.5 inch tall tires and the speedometer was dead on. I'm wondering if this will cause an issue with the Hypertech. I will know more tomorrow when I call them.
And run to where? As I posted, I've been to 3 dealers with no luck.
I've called two Ford dealers and the same answer. I was hoping the 4x4 shop would at least be able to do it. Figuring they're always installing bigger tires and gears and they still suggested I buy an aftermarket tuner. I do not feel like I need to change the over tune for performance of any kind, so I'll call Hypertech today and ask them about the speedometer only programmer they have.
My good friend knows a guy that owns a shop and he spoke to them today. This shop claims they can reprogram my speedometer. I have met the shop owner and he seems like a stand up guy. I will schedule an appointment once I get my truck put back together and get an alignment. Front axle is out and I'm installing the 4.10 gears in it. With all new upper and lower controls arms, outer tie rods and I order the Bilstein 5100's for the front. Hope they fit ok. Inner tie rods were replaced a while back.
I'm trying to figure out what I would need to buy in order to use Forscan. I need to confirm my very old PC is even up to par. lol I'm hoping this shop has this already and save me the headache. For now I will research it more as I have nothing to do until more parts arrive for my truck.
