I found that to be the most confusing stuff ever. I go through link after link after link and it becomes overwhelming.
It's not as simple for everyone as it seems to be for you. Maybe I'm just stupid, I dunno. But I'm more than willing to pay someone knowledgeable and competent enough to not F it up. If only I could find someone like that.
the description at Amazon says, "This interface runs at a constant speed of 500kbit/s. Hook up it to your car, connect to internet, update drivers, access your chosen ELM327-based software, and begin the vehicle diagnostics."
Does this mean that in addition the Forscan I have to have other software and drivers just for this connector?

My guess is yes on your home pc. What very little I have picked up looks like you need to modify the file on your pc then update your truck. But I'm just looking into it myself. For me I will give my buddys shop a chance at doing it. If they can't then I will order a Forscan.

No its just an interface. Don't use the crappy CD it comes with either is a plethora of software that uses this adapter. The only program you will be using it for is forscan.

Ok, good news for sure. I've ordered that one and will download Forscan when it gets here. My plan:
- attempt to get a temporary license for Forscan;
- if successful, establish communication with my truck;
- back up the appropriate modules and save on a usb drive;
- attempt 2 mods- Bambi (fog lights with high beam) and change the turn signal flash rate from 3 to 5 (or maybe 7).
Since my front axle rebuild is taking longer than planned, I went ahead and order the Forscan. Hope to have the front gears set up today but the front Bilsteins won't be here until Saturday. The Forscan should arrive tomorrow. I will have a couple of days to learn it and try to put it to good use.
Unless the function has been deleted on a recent update to IDS on an 09-14 you should be able to program any available factory tire or axle size to the truck. I programmed several to the factory Raptor size that had put 35's on their vehicles.
Sometimes some creative math can get the final drive ratio close enough but if you're wanting exactly what you have and its not factory available they can no longer program just any axle ratio or tires by the revolutions per mile. On 15+ it's not able to be changed at all.

According to my math, I'm 50 rpm over what I would be if I had a 3.73 gear with the stock tire size. I have 4.10 gears with a 33 inch tall tire. My truck originally had a 3.31 rear gear.
I found this spreadsheet and it sure does make it look easy. If I plug in the numbers I need a 38.2 inch tall tire to bring my 4.10 with 33 inch tires back to my stock setup which was 3.31 with a 30.9 inch tire. Me and my son will be installing the front axle we just rebuilt with 4.10's and my Bilsteins should be here by 10am this morning. Hope to have the truck back on the ground and moving by lunch time and then try to adjust the speedometer.

Have you tried to connect yet? I'm having no luck at all.
Any issues, feel free to post or send me a PM. Make sure you get the extended license from forscan.
Please understand you are talking to an idiot. No steps or info, however minor, can be omitted.
I've made some progress despite being an idiot. All the instructions I've read seem to assume I know something about something. I don't so I've spent the better part of 6 hrs trying to figure out what it is I'm doing.
I got FORscan, I got the license, I got the interface, I downloaded driver(s). I connected to my truck and made a backup of all "As Built" data. Here's where I'm stuck. I highlight and open the BCM to make the change for the Bambi Mod, BCM-27-01. But what I see on my screen is different from what all the spreadsheets show. The spreadsheet says xxxx xxx0 01xx. But that looks different than the boxes I'm given. Any ideas?

Yes I was able to connect and have been trying different values with no change in my speedometer. I'm starting to think the 2010 uses a different line than 726-12-01.
Also on the 2010 there is no BCM option. The only options I had were; RCM ABS IC as is IC HVAC FDIM GEM/SJB as is GEM/SJB
I discovered that I need to click on GEM/SJB AS IS file to get to the programming which is were line 726-12-01 and other lines of code are located. But I have no clue as to which line does what. I did find where someone mentioned 726-45-?? something line was what I needed to edit but I do not have a line 45. I only go up to I think 20 something. I've posted on the Forscan explaining my issue in hopes someone will reply. I've messaged ford390 but no reply yet from him.
At first I could not log into the file. I had an error saying I needed the extended license. What I had forgotten to do was upload the license to the Forscan program. Once I did that I was able to upload my vehicle information and back it up. I also had the truck running. The forscan will prompt you about which mode your scanner is in. Of course the switch does not indicate which option you are in so when it prompts me I just flip it and it works. When I start to open the GEM file I have to flip the switch back.
I have my pc back in the house and I am searching for answers.
