While a friend was driving my truck he said it made a popping sound then the glow plug an wrench light came on then the truck show off an would not crank or do anything. I’m out of town working for another week. Looking for any ideas as to what might cause it to do this or what I might need to check/look at when I get back home.
Have friend postcodes associated with wrench light.other than that we can play guess what it is. No seriously have him tell or post them himself. Have to have somewhere to start.
Bizmic didn't say it so I will. Forscan Lite or Torque Pro. These cell phone apps will give you what you need as a 6.0 owner. Forscan a little more in depth than Torque but both work very well.

do they work with iPhone/iPad ???
i know some only work on droid devices
Yes they, both apps work on Apple and Android products. The difference in the two is the OBD11 Dongle you buy. Android is BLUETOOTH Apple is Wi-Fi. That's it. A very good investment. $30 +/-
A POP noise and quit sort of points to the YOU KNOW WHAT.
05 f250 6 inch lift Do you recall if the SCT was changed when you did the work you list for mods?
The 2005 is also one of the years where the STC fitting was an issue. I would be willing to bet the IPR value is going to show up as low and
even unplugging the IPR sensor won't let it start.
How ever that would be the second thing to try after seeing it if will start after letting sit to cool off.
Just got home. Checked my truck an the ECM fuse was blown. Replaced it an it will spin over now. Scan gauge shows P0197 code. I’m not sure what that’s for. Charging up batteries now to see if it will fire up.
I have no idea how to find the short. Might just put new sensor in it. It was working fine til I installed bulletproof diesel oil cooler delete block several months ago. Not water an oil temps always stay even or oil 2 degrees above water temp.
im not sure if it’s possible to plug the water temp an oil temp plugs into the wrong sensors ?
A common source for that is a short in the fan clutch or fan clutch wiring. Other things that can do so as well are IPR, GPCM, EGR, and the MAF.
fan clutch wiring is all messed up. Got caught up in fan an got ripped apart. I got fan clutch adapter an a 7.3L fan clutch I’m goin to put on it an get rid of the electrical fan clutch.
