Trying to take the oil rail off on the passenger side of my late build 04. The dummy plug is 12mm. The standpipe is not, 12mm is too small. 14mm is too big. T60 torx is too small. Anybody run into this before? What brand standpipe do I have?
It's definitely hex. I forgot to mention that I also tried all the SAE hex around that size, none of them fit. I ordered a 13mm hex, since I couldn't find any locally, hopefully that will fit.
Sometimes hard to see gunk can get in the plug head and “shrink” it. Maybe take a small thin nail and scrape the inside of the head real well to clean it out
So, just for ****s and grins, I tried a 1/2" extension. Fit perfectly and the standpipe is out. (I need new glasses) The hole is square, not hex like the dummy plug. However the standpipe is in two pieces. This is the first one I've ever taken out, but all the pictures I have seen led me to believe the standpipe would be one piece. Below is a picture. Do I have an upgraded standpipe, a stock standpipe or an aftermarket standpipe?
