Before I go and put myself at the mercy of my local dealer I wanted to know if anyone has had to get the ignition key replaced on their 04 ford. Problem is I only have one . I was told that you must have two in order for a duplicate to be made. Sorta stupid because if I had two I wouldnt need another key.......What do I do? thanks alot
Go to e-bay and get 3 or 4 key blanks. Get them cut to match your existing key at a local locksmith. Then have him program one to your car. Two programed keys are required to program additional keys. Now you can program the rest yourself to match on your own. This way you will have at least two programed keys for future needs. I just ordered 4 blanks here; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-F...Q5fAccessories
Dialtone; How much did you have to pay? I ordered 4 blanks for $45.00 delivered. I can get them cut for free and can program them my self as I still have 2 programed keys.
Thanks for the info. I did go by a well known locksmith and he didnt even have any blanks and acted like trying to program some new keys was not possible.Ive never bought anything on ebay before and will try to figure it out thanks
Had the blanks cut today. I'll program them this weekend when the Pa-in-law stops by. Call around to find a locksmith that has the equipment to do the programing. You may just have to go to the dealer for the programming of your second key but then you can program a third yourself.
