FYI - I went to a seminar this summer and one of the speakers was an IRS agent. She mentioned that the deductions/abuse that people have been taking on these donated auto's has become so bad that it's now become a red flag audit item.

I'm looking for something to drive while I start a big project on my truck.
Here's how I can help if you want. I'll fly up to Kansas with a temp tag and insurance, fix the car and drive it back to south Florida. I'll also help you fix your rental unit if you want.
I don't care about the title.

Well it sounds like the local tow service have given you your options, which seem pretty painless. I would pay the $65.00 and be done with it. Just the time you would waste trying to get legal ownership of the piece of junk wouldbe more than it is worth, then you have to try and sell it to recoup those additional expenses. Obtaining a title varies from state to state. Some are quite complicated. In Alsaka for instance, you have to send the required certified letter to the last known address. Then you have to get an expert appraisal($100). Then a surity bond for 1.5 times the appraisal value. Even on a junker it will cost over $200 and all your time.

Justin why would you leave your car parked on the street for a whole week? I wouldn't do that to a car that I placed any value on. I don't even like to park on the street overnight.
