how could an intercooler impact emissions? Does it look that much different than OEM?
I took a pic OEM is on the right. Mishimoto has 5 more rows at the bottom iirc. All aluminum with nice looking welds. It's the 6.0 IC so it has a different size boot as well. The OEM looks filthy in the pic but I flushed all the debris out of the fin area with water. Hardly any fins needed straightening.
For the full experience a boot blew off first WOT.
hmmm....they actually look at the intercooler and see its not factory? What about aftermarket but OEM size?
I looked into new aftermarket 7.3 ICs and even the stock size needs an EO number, official approval by CARB (CA Air Resources Board) for road use. Gale Banks is one of the few who spends the coin to get an EO number, but that cost is passed thru of course. Only OEM Ford does not need an EO#.
I was surprised they noticed it tbh. Went unnoticed 6 times before. They still never noticed the AIH delete or the OCR, but I hid the pressure regulator for the OCR behind the AC compressor.

I would be tempted to just paint the Mishimoto unit black and put it back...bet it would be overlooked that way...
Interesting. I wonder if it really impacts emissions on these trucks which are so incredibly dirty to begin with. Thank goodness we cleaned up emissions for diesels because if you lived in congested places with no emissions controls its kids with asthma, headaches and respiratory illness constantly.
I've been there and you'd be crying for someone too please fix this nightmare.
grew up with Asthma, did not get over it until I moved to the greater Southwest where I was in wide open spaces and high winds all the time.
at 81, I am still free of it, and the doc says my lungs are clean and healthy now.
my Driveway is 340 feet long to the street, this was one day right after I brought my sister home from Utah, we had stuff scattered everywhere...
Trailers up at the house needing to be unloaded where we usually park
