And I can not thank you enough for helping me out on this!!!!!! Everyone that helped. I’ve learned more about this engine and how it all jives together to run right in the last 24 hours than I’ve ever known. I’m the guy that gets in turns the key and expect it to run right. Kind of enjoyed doing this. I’d but the rounds all night for the help!!

vacuum port on carb is giving 20+ revved up to 3000 rpm. Getting 5-10 on port on the actual intake manifold. I did not plug the vacuum advance hose off dizzy when I was timing it if that matters. It seemed to smooth out by holding a rag over top of carb to kill the air. I’m not super sure my timing is optimal either. I think it’s a little too much. Around 18 degrees

forgive my ignorance because I’m a super newbie when it comes to these kind of things. I think I’m close just not perfect on it

shooting for 800 idle, correct me if I’m wrong. Has auto tranny.

Anyone point me in the right direction on troubleshooting? I haven’t had a whole lot of time because of farming but I piddle with it at night. Thing sounds like a beast. All the gauges are even working. What more could a guy want!😝
I have a 428fe in my 74 highboy I have my timing at 10 degrees advanced I would use wd40 or something like that around the suspected vacuum leak area otherwise try the mixture screws

Is that 17'' at 800rpms and connected to ported vacuum ?

Thank you for the photos.

I don't see the point of having a Tee to the front of the intake manifold.

The rear has a PCV valve, and the front doesn't.

My logic tells me that one pipe suffices, at the rear.

1Ton made a good point back in post 36, please refer to it.

When you take it out for a test run, be sure to keep your ears listening for any detonation. Hard to know what your compression ratio is on an engine rebuilt by others.

You're very welcome dwirth, and I'm pleased that you had fun with the hands on learning.

You're not done yet, but the foundations are getting solid.

My question was crap !!

I should have said, was the reading of 17'' at 800 rpms with the dizzy connected to ported ?

Brilliant !

When you hook the dizzy up to full manifold vacuum, and keep the rpms at 800, and take a vacuum reading, let us know if that reading makes you smile.

I keep saying do this and do that at a constant 800rpms because otherwise the readings would not be very helpful.

During the final dialling in of everything, when you get to it, you can change the 800 rpms to whatever you want, or you can leave it there.

So far the numbers are telling you that you have a good strong engine.

Sweet. I’m a long way from drive ability. But now I feel safe to put front clip together. I was preparing/dreading to having to pull motor for some reason or another.

Hooking to manifold is simply advancing the timing , might be fine or it might have you way off . check your curve.
