Carb issues, HELP!
Yesterday I started it up and got about 1/4 mile down the road and it died and would not start. I pulled off to the side and after taking the air cleaner off there was gas coming out of the choke side, the linkage side and out of a vacuum port on the front. Yikes. I always thought the term "flooded" was metaphoric, not so much I guess.

I am assuming that the choke is sticking open but I know next to nothing about carbs. I don't even know what brand the carb is as I cant find any ID tags, names, etc.
I am also curious whats up with the open vacuum line port? Should I cap it? When I got the truck there was a short length of vacuum hose behind the seat that looked like it went from the vac advance on the distributer to this port. I hooked it up and the trucked started running terrible [knocking, deiseling, etc]so I took it back off and it returned to normal. It has been years since I have worked on these older engines but I seem to remember that you are supposed to adjust the timing with the vacuum advance removed. So I'm thinking that I need to go buy a timing light.
Any ideas on what model carb it is? I looked online for other carbs that look like mine to no avail, I attached some pics so maybe someone can help me identify the carb. I'm thinking that I am in over my head and I need help. Ideas? Thanks in advance! PS Not flipping anyone the bird just used the wrong finger to point to the open vacuum port mentioned above!

There's a number stamped on the pad just to the left of your finger. That number will tell you what you have.
The flooding was probably caused by something stuck in your needle and seat.
Those old afb's are basically the same carb as the new edelbrock ones.
Probably need a rebuild.
THat black cap is adjustable. Loosen the 3 screws and it should turn. Turn it cw to lean it down or ccw to richen it.
It's probably set up too rich cause it won't kick down. Or your power wire to it is not working. Needs 12 volts to it when you start your motor.
