There is a 2011 STX regular cab 3.5 Ecoboost 4x4 from a fleet becoming available mileage is about 240,00. I know the guy that does the maintenance on it . This is some rust on the fender wells but other than that its clean. It was used to tow equipment like generators and pumps to job sites .I`m told they company will probably let it go for About $1000. Is it too good of a deal to pass up ?
Just never bought anything with that kind of mileage , I would like to get a year out of it at least without major problems
Its a 1k truck, if it makes it a month it was worth it. If it makes a full year thats incredible. You can't expect much from a truck that costs that much.
Actually my intent is to buy it for the nephew who does live in a rural area so thats why i`m cautious about the mileage . As far as mechanical condition it just passed the PA safety inspection and i know the guy who does the inspections for the fleet and he was the one who told me about the sale. Just need to hear from my nephew if he wants it . I`ll pay for the truck but don`t want to put it my name.
If it runs and passes inspection, I'd say it's worth $1k, given a few understandings. Your nephew shouldn't spend money on upgrades like wheels, lift kits, even sound system. I wouldn't expect or rely on the truck for out if town travel, just stay local, to/from school/work/date nights.
just spend basic money on the truck to keep it running, oil changes, etc. even if/when it needs tires, I'd shop Craigslist for a used set, doesn't make sense putting a new set of 50-60000 miles tires on it.
i bought a 97 f150 new, after 20 years and 200k plus miles, I didn't trust it for road trips and it didn't make sense to spend money on it. A friend insisted on buying it from me for $1500, he still uses it around town, lumber store, landscaping needs, trips to dump, etc. plus, he's loaned it out to neighbors doing the same.
He `s nearly 40 married with 5 kids doubt very much he`ll modify anything , currently has a S10 that the wheels are bout ready to fall off. But he also has the good sense to have a Expedition as the family hauler. 4 wheel drive is a must where he lives
I would buy it and use it, If the engine or tranny kicks you can part it out as there are several thousand dollars worth or body parts on the truck...if the body is in good condition
