TDC and Slow crank
Greetings.
2014 F250 Super Duty 6.2 121,xxxmi. Was driving the truck as normal one day and the oil lamp came on. The truck died. Got it home and checked the oil and it was fine. Crank the truck again and the light stayed lit. I figured it was the oil pump so we got it apart and swapped with a new oil pump. Primed it and put the truck 85% back together and wanted to try cranking it. It has a slow crank and will not start but i think it isn't spinning fast enough to actually crank. Im getting fuel and spark but the revolutions are waaaaay to slow. I've got a new battery as well as a new starter before making this thread. With the plugs out and clearing the cylinders it seems to turn over great but now the plugs are in and its struggling. Now that you have the back story. i started to suspect timing but normally it would still crank just run horrible. I say this because i done the oil pump as i done on my 5.4s previously by marking the position of the timing as they were before removal. Never taking the chain completely off as when you pull the tensioners from the chain you have enough play to remove the sprocket from the oil pump without complete disassembly. The chains hang and remain in the same position and fits back perfectly and all of my prior marks are aligned. This method although not ideal has worked several times before so dont crucify me for not TDC. Any thoughts??? Heres a video. Its actually a little slower sometimes.
