Ford 302 Weird

Back story lost oil pressure when pump shaft broke. Heard it knock but shut down in time.
Put new main bearings in same size, Crank won’t even turn with thrust out and caps off.
Miked crank, it doesn’t seem egg shaped.
Thinking of buying a new crank with bearings to match. Any recommendations?
Its been 35 years since I built a motor.
This is going in my 56 so nothing dramatic. Went with a 268h cam lifters and timing. Also a new arp oil pump shaft.
This was a new ford motor I swapped for and have about 5,00 miles on. Good cross hatch on cylinders so it’s a little weird. There was nothing in screen or old oil pump for debris so it is weird.

Do you have your timing chain off . Could be cam bushings seized .

So are you saying that with the crank sitting in the block journal bearings with no main caps on and nothing attached to the crank like timing chain and rods the crank wont spin? If that is the case double check the bearings. It would not be the first time bearings were not marked correctly. If there are things attached to the crank unhook them and then try spinning it.

Keep us updated on what you try and find.

Did you replace the oil pump? It may have seized.

I think it’s mismarked bearings. No timing chain etc.
Crank really won’t even sit down. I did have caps on it but when it wouldn’t turn I took it back apart.
The original ford bearings are marked 10 however I think the bearings I got were 10 the other way.
I cleaned motor so no debris was in it.
Will be back home during Xmas so I may know something then

Worst case, the loss of oil did more damage than you thought and you need to line bore the block. Back in 1972 I striped the oil pump shaft in my 289 65 Mustang. No knock, but some hot bearings, none of them turned. In my case it took the caps torqued down to realize it, but I clearly remember the machinist showing me that the crank would not turn with a flex bar. Line boring fixed that and you could turn the crank with a end wrench.
Odd that yours hangs up without the bearing caps though.

Yea, the crank should definitely sit into the bearing half easily. Mic the crank before getting new bearings to make sure you get the right ones.
