After almost a month of back and forth emailing i take a 1 hour drive to go buy F-350 .
Nope,I get the "oh that was with a commercial rebate" um no it wasn't suppose to be and I had discussed that. Oh and wanting to give 15k on a 20-21k trade. "Oh that is Retail amount" um no you idiot it isnt and dont take me for a fool.
I walked.
Just know that if you think that being a woman buying a truck WITHOUT a Man around is easy.... it Isn't
I have no friends here, let alone any Male friends.
... Anyone in eastern MA wanna come play ball at a dealer with me friday to Sunday....I'll buy you dinner and s few Frosties for your trouble ?
I'm a 6' 2" , 230lb no head games kinda dude and I get the same B.S. at car dealers. My best advice is to go in armed with as much printed out documentation as possible and don't let them play any of their games. Polite and assertive is the way to go. Walking away is sometimes your best option.
Well, I would certainly come help you out, but it is a loooonnnng way from AZ to MA!!! LOL. And some dealers are just that, regardless of the gender of the buyer.........put up all kinds of crap on the internet, still need to come to their store so they can try to screw you over. Good on. You for walking.
A friend of mine bought a truck 100% online. Did the trade and everything. Was Very happy. They brought the truck all the way from Texas to Arizona, unloaded it, loaded his trade and drove away happy. I think it was vroom.com or something like that. Might give them a try..

LOL HERE WE GO!!!
Hey Lin be prepared for how much I can bench press, how fast I can run a mile, I'm not too fat to fit under my truck etc...
Try to get 8-10% off msrp on the new one and get your trade in value off like KBB.com or similar and then deduct the tax savings and any significant damages off the value.
Thats a pretty decent deal. If they say no to that i would walk. Do it via email or text, dont waste you’re time.

Yes Lin this is the no head games kinda dude approach. Joe T good man, always solid advice. Know his posts well from the Covid days
I was looking at TrueCar today. They will tell you what your desired vehicle sells for. They’ll graph a good buy or poor buy for your area code. It’s a Good start. Dealers are a PIA, to bad they haven’t improved the buying process after all these years.
You're not being taken advantage of because you are a woman. If that was going on, then dealers would cater to women and give male shoppers the bum's rush. No. You were working with a really crooked sales person and you should let the GM of that dealership know they will never hear from you again. They would have done the same thing to a male shopper. Remember, you do this once every five or 10 years or whatever. The dealership does this five times a day. Who do you think is better at it? Keep that in mind when you engage the next dealership. Don't take their word for anything. If it's part of the deal, it must be in writing. Promises and offers mean nothing until you sit down to negotiate the deal.

Could have not have agreed more
If the GM/GSM contact does not provide results, I'd contact Ford Customer Service and prior to that have the info on the F-350 you want with the last eight of the VIN #
and in the last sentence of your note tell them your a buyer today and have a few referrals who are experiencing the same issues.
Calmly explain the events that took place, stick to the facts and keep it short and to the point
I'm in eastern MA as well and went through the same crap with certain dealers. There are some really good ones out here as well. There was one in RI that was advertising trucks $3k lower than you could actually buy them for (no * indicating there was fine print). I drove an hour to go see one truck at that dealership and got into it pretty good with the sales manager about shady sales tactics. The last 2 trucks I bought, I expanded my search on Trucar and Cars.com and found small, family owned dealers in central and western MA that were awesome to deal with. Just letting you know, there are good dealers out there. It's not all gender as to why you're getting treated like crap, some dealers are just plain slimy.
i walked out of 2 different dealers on the same day cause they pulled stuff like that. both times the numbers guys seemed surprised that i walked out. A sales man like that is looking for someone that will be fascinated by the shiny new truck and not pay attention to the real numbers. thats why so many push the test drive before talking numbers.
I used TrueCar when I bought my F-250 a few weeks ago. I locked in on the price when I first saw it, the following day it went up by $900. When I talked to the dealer, I told him I had the TrueCar price, he didn’t know about the lower price, but I emailed him a picture of the offer, and they honored it.
Lin, I'm sorry to hear you had to deal with the scum of the earth (and I'm not talking about that Scag_Driver guy! ). I used to write software for car dealers, specifically for the sales area. I can tell that they are a slimy group of people.
I use an auto broker for many of my car purchases. It's a no BS transaction. I tell him what I want, he tells me the price he can get it for, plus his fee. Zero drama. I deal with the same guy every time, even those the time between first and latest purchase was 12 years. For my F-350 I used the X-plan option and went through the Internet Sales Manager. It's was a fairly pain-free process that got me a better price than my broker could get. The finance guy was difficult to deal with but I had my numbers down pat and he couldn't dissuade me from getting a good deal.
