2000 F450 with a 7.3. Truck wouldn't start a few weeks ago. Just got a clunk sound from the starter. I tried jumping the starter and got it running. I tired starting it a few times after that and had no problem. The next morning I got the same no start, just a clunk at the starter. I replaced the starter but it still wouldn't start. Replaced the relay on the fender and it started right up. Started fine for a weeks then the same clunk. Tried jumping the fender relay and the starter. Nothing. Was ready to hit the starter and it started by turning the key. I didn't want to take a chance so I replaced the starter again. Still getting the clunk, no start. Removed the starter and bench tested it; it was fine. Checked and cleaned up all my grounds. Still nothing. To summarize, nothing but a clunk when I try to start it by turning the key, jumping the fender relay or jumping the starter. Connections have been cleaned. I'm thinking of a bad cable with corrosion in the middle of it somewhere? Someone else I was talking to said it could be a bad ignition switch. Any thoughts?
