Hello friends, this is only my second post. I am looking for some assistance. I am restoring a 1960 F350, dually. This model has the 292 and a T 98 trans. After getting the motor to turn and tearing it down, I have turned my attention to the rear differential. The truck came with the diff cover off and I can see that the pinion gear is trashed. There are no identifying tags or marks on this diff. My question is how can I identify this diff? The backing plate is round. Do I need to tear this all apart in order to ID it? Any help would be appreciated.
Just FYI - This is the 1961-1966 section - However, I do have most of the info for the older trucks, too. Your original Warranty Plate if still attached to the inside of the glovebox should help ID the axle if it is original. But, the 1960 F350 only had one RPO choice from the factory. It would be a Timken B140 in a 1960 F350. All 1957-1960 F350s came with the Timken B140 axle.

I hope that helps.
Thank you this is helpful and I didn’t mean to post to the wrong forum. I will look for the axel info in the glove box. This truck is all original so info should be correct. Is there a table of axle codes to reference? This does not look like a Dana 60 rear
