I just put an adjustable trac bar in to recenter my axle. iv just go a leveling kit. i put 12.5x35s on the truck and they rub the passenger spring so that solved that but as im trying to center my steering wheel I've discovered its upside down when my pitman arm is pointed straight forward and the box is in the middle of it stroke. turn and a half each way. so how do I fix that? thnaks for any help
Sounds like you didnt have the steering wheel right side up and the box centered when you reconnected everything.
did you disconnect the box from the steering shaft during the install? If so, that's where it hapoened.
Adjusting the drag link wont fix it.
The leveling kit lifted the front end, in return the drag link is now too short so it pulled the pitman arm, turning the steering wheel. Simply loosen the adjuster sleeve on the drag link and recenter the steering wheel
Correct. So if you adjust the drag link to righten the the steering wheel, it will no longer be on the middle of the throw.
I dont think hes telling us everything we need to know. It sounds like he disconnected the steering gear box from the steering column and it was upside down when he reconnected.
adjusting the drag link is to center the wheels and steering wheel that last little bit, not a half a steering wheel turn. That's a lot.
and if you did turn it enough to move that far, the gear box would no longer be centered.
They all play a part.
