Upper hose collapsing

Has anyone else noticed that their upper radiator hose collapses? I noticed mine was a few months ago so I took it for a drive to get it to normal operating temps then came home and parked it for the evening with the cap off then put it back on the next morning. Well before our memorial day trip I serviced my truck and noticed the hose collapsed again so I replaced the cap and it is again collapsed. I also pulled our new 12K lb 5th wheel for the first time and noticed my coolant temps climbed quite a bit higher than normal but this is the heaviest trailer I have pulled. Only other thing I've pulled is a 7x14 enclosed trailer. Is this a 6.7L thing thats normal? My brother in law says all their fleet superduties do the same thing. Some are 2019s with only a few thousand miles on them. What are you guys seeing and is there a fix for this?

This is a non-issue as the upper hose has no support structure to prevent it from collapsing. When the cooling system cools down, it creates a vacuum to pull coolant from the expansion tank back into the cooling system. This can cause the upper hose to collapse.

Only be concerned if you are loosing coolant which will cause overheating. If your coolant stays in the cold fill to hot fill levels on the expansion tank, you will be ok.
