Probably not the reason, as when you look at the parts involved, the rear drive shaft is much stouter than a lot of the front end parts. The weakest part will fail first, and my guess is the transfer case, or the front drive shaft.
It broke where the tube was welded to the rear yoke, hardly any penetration on the yoke. So a crappy factory weld was the weakest point.
Actually, it was kind of exciting. I was probably 18-19, and had an LT1 in my old K5 Blazer. Big group of us were at the local gravel pit doing hill climbs. I was close to the top of the biggest hill with my foot to the floor and KAPOW!!! Loud banging and sparks flying.... everybody was cheering.
What i'm asking is if i change my rear 3.55 gears to say something like 4.30's, and i engage 4wd, will it effect the driveline in a negative way? Because the front stay at 3.55.
Seriously???? I might have to put some thought into this before I even think about it!!
Rear axle going to turn 1 revolution per 4.3 revolutions of the drive shaft.....front axle going to turn 1 rev per 3.55 rev’s of the DS.
How do you even think this might work out?
In the late 80's I had a 65 Chevy stepside that had 3:07 front and 3:73 rear ratios. I only used 4x4 in very muddy or slippery conditions. It would pop like crazy once I had good traction. I would actually have to back up slightly to get the NP205 xfer case unlocked. I would recommend against this idea unless you plan to drop the front driveshaft and leave it as a 2wd … and I don't recommend that either. Good luck.

lol, you mad about something? I didn't think it would thats why I asked. Thats what these fourms are for. You don't have to read it if it upsets you so much. Lol. Wow.

Mad?????? LOL.
Just trying to help you visualize how bad an idea this might be.
Here's one of the more recent threads I read. I don't see anything about the front diff. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ear-end-2.html
and it looks like his is a FX4. He may have ordered 2 sets. I could have missed it or misunderstood.
I've seen on other forums where guys have changed just the rear differential on a 4x4 vehicle. They acknowledge that they won't use 4x4. Engaging 4x4 would be like playing Russian Roulette. My worry would be that someone unfamiliar with the modification would drive the truck. Like some 18 year old "technician" at the dealership that likes to play with all the switches in a truck.

Well, we will *** U ME that, since the post was about finding gears for the relatively new DANA M275, that he was also getting gears for the Front D60(which has been around like forever) and therefore no problem finding gear sets for.
Otherwise, with 1000 RWHP, he will either never use 4WD or things are going to go to hell in a hurry for him

If, in fact, you go back to the OP, he states that:
4.30 gears in a Dana M275 rear end
I'm looking at switching gears in my 2017 f350 with the m275 rear end. It has 3.55's and looking to switch out to 4.10's or 4.30's. Has anyone done this or has any info on where to get the parts from? I'm looking at switching both the rear and front gears. I've called a few places and no luck so far.

So, you're correct and NOT "*** U ME"ing Don! (I know there's no "e" in assuming but had to leave it there)
