I would like to change the rear gears to a 4.10 limited slip insead of my 3.75 I think it is... for towing, but I do a lot of logging road, and winter snow driving, and If I change the rear end gears and I put my truck into 4x4 would the truck just lock up on the road because the front tires are spinning faster then the rears? or would it compensate somehow? what does it cost to fix the problem and can I just change the transfer case gears ??(I dont quite know what the transfer case does?)

If you have a 4wd drive and do not change both sets of gears and try to use 4wd, it will break something fast. I dont know if it would lock up but I do know it would cause damage! Don't do just one set, do both of them. It is possible to do one set at a time, but DO NOT use 4wd at ANY time unless you absolutly have to. Even then, keep it to the bear minumum.
I don't think that you will see that much improvement in power, if any noticeable amount at all, when comparing a 3:73 to a 4:10, maybe a couple hundred RPMs.
I wasnt really askin about power, I know gears wont give you more power, it just allows me to use more gears and rpms for towing the trailer...
but where are the front gears located on a 2k1 f150 because it uses a-arm type suspension, are the front gears in the transfer case or what device does that?
