Unhappy 1987 f150 fuel pump problems

Hey guys hows it going, i just finished putting in a new water pump, thermostat, and housing on my 87 so it would be good to run again. I also recharged the battery because it had gotten drained when 2 open wires touched near my radio. Coming back to current time i replaced and fixed everything and gave my truck a start but no crank happenend. All the lights would turn on but no crank.I checked the fuses and found one of them blown, which was position 8 for the courtesy, dome, cargo lamps, warning buzzer. I got a screwdriver and put it up against the starter bolts and after that the truck started cranking on the turn of the key. But still, no start. This threw me off because the only problem prior was the overheating. First thing i noticed what i could not hear the buzz of the fuel pump, I went to check the fuel pump relay and examined it, all of the wires were in tact and nothing i could notice, was not hot either. I also checked the red button under the driver side pannel to see if it was tripped but it was good. The owner before me said it was a new fuel pump so im not sure if the pump itself is bad. It seemed liek once those 2 live wires from my radio touching messed somthing up, but im not sure how that would tie in with the waterpump. Im moving out soon and i am on such a tight budget, i thought the truck would be golden after the last repairs. Any ideas guys or recomendations? I might add that i do not have a elecricity tool kit or any wiring tool kits. Any help is much appreciated.

I don't understand this sentence. Are you jumping the solenoid to make the starter engage? Or are you turning the key to start?
