Try calling this place, they advertise "17.00 X 6.00 DOT - Bare Rim" but don't have any further description or pictures. If they don't have what you are looking for maybe they can give you some leads.
Interesting how many of us are looking for the same thing—17” drop center barrels. I found a local shop who can weld in my widow maker centers but they mostly do ag wheel work and don’t have a source for the barrels. Thanks for the lead.
The two usually mentioned here are Stockton (CA) Wheel & Tire and Custom & Commercial Wheel Co (CA).
Search the posts for "widow maker" and you'll see my detailed experience.
In addition to the companies mentioned American Wheel Specialist (AWS) of Kennewick, WA, probably has the source for these rims. What I’d wonder is whether they would sell you just the rims since their businesses are the rebuilding of the wheels. The other issue they might have is selling to a customer whom they have no confidence will safely weld the discs into the rims. None of the AWS custom wheels are DOT certified and, to my understanding, are sold for off-road use only. Would they expose themselves legally with some unknown person doing the welding? Stu

I also wonder about this with the companies that sell IFS kits for people to install at home. Really, with many other items sold to modify vehicles from stock. Maybe not so much for the companies that sell the items, they are forcing anyone to use them, but the people themselves who weld parts on in their home garages and if something fails and causes major injury and damages. There's liability in everything.

My memory is faulty, but is AWS a supplier to Les Schwab?? I think I remember AWS not working with the public directly since they're a supplier to Les Schwab. I could be mistaken.
My wheel conversions are not DOT certified either. That being said, they're solid as a rock and they give me a great deal of satisfaction knowing I cannot blow a rim.
Yes, at least that was so when I visited them a dozen years ago or more. As a wholesaler anybody living in Schwab’s service area had to go to them. Same applied to Commercial Tire. If you live east of the contracted retailers they would work with you directly. Another good old thread on this is the Mike Goldsby thread about his 17s done by Stockton Wheel.
The DOT certification issue is just a CYA for the lawyers. When I visited AWS I saw their electronic welder at work which I’m sure would meet any weld integrity test. But for a small company it’s probably not worth it. Give the “off road use only” disclaimer and the customer uses them as he sees fit. Certainly safer than going to the local “blacksmith“. Stu
