So, I'm looking for a cheap paint job for my wife's 2004 Expedition. The paint on the roof is dead and failing in most other areas. I don't need or want to pay for an expensive factory paint job.
if you were looking to get something sprayed and get it to look good and last a few years, where would you go? The truck is 16 years old and has 135K on the clock. I want to get a few more years out of it and get some decent looking paint on it before bare steel shows through.
There use to be a company call Eryl Schibe ..... There used generic automotive paint and did basic paint jobs cheap... You didnt get much prep work, that where they saved money... I sanded down an old truck 30 years ago, took off the bumpers, door handles, etc and drove to them.. They taped up the window and sprayed.. Looked fine for what i was doing.
Im sure there are still some places like that... Younger less experienced guys learning to paint, but if your painting a car every day, on a month or two you get pretty good !
online encyclopedia--- Earl Scheib was a company which specialized in low cost repainting and collision repair of automobiles, with locations in 23 states in the United States. It ceased operations nationwide on July 16, 2010.[1]
The roof most certainly needs a full paint job but I think that the rest of the truck may get by with some expert love from someone who knows what they're doing. The clear is peeling off some areas of the front bumper area and the paint is dead there as well. The truck is pretty darned great sharp except for some dead paint.
Thanks guys, I'll look them up and see what they're willing to do for me.
