Muffler Advice
Looking for some direction on some new mufflers for my '72 F100 (302). Bought it with true dual exhaust & just looking for a set of mufflers that is basically stock (have stock exhaust manifolds). The ones on there now are roached. I am going to try & reuse the 2'' pipe & just cut off connections @ both mufflers & clamp new mufflers to existing pipes. The ones that are on there are a 12" inch oval case. After cutting the pipes I will need the new mufflers to be at least 16" L. I saw the Walker "33 L (18238) round muffler which is spec'ed for my truck but I think they were intended for a single exhaust application. Does anyone know if that same Walker muffler will be fine to use in a true duel exhaust set up ? Or, other recomendations ?

If by true dual exhaust set up you mean two of those walker mufflers, then they will be fine. I myself would upgrade to a 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" flowmaster 40 series. They make our trucks sound like a 90's foxbody. But asking opinions on mufflers is like asking what rims look best, or what color should I paint my truck. Ultimately that decision is yours to make.
