Now that the weather in NY is better, I have had the windows down and I have been noticing a slight whistle at lower RPM while barely hitting the throttle. I was wondering if anybody else has noticed this with these engines? It almost sounds like a supercharger whistle but only at low RPM with slight throttle.

 

That seems to be a Ford thing. I've had a couple of different Ford trucks that would whistle under specific circumstances. It might bug you but I don't think it is anything to worry about.

 

Did the whistle ever subside or did you just get used to it? We test drove one that had the same whistle. It wasn’t prominent, but you did hear it each time you gently eased on the throttle. No such sound with the 6.2L

 

Never subsided. It was worst in cold weather. I think it is in the air induction system.

 

I wonder if anyone has noticed if it went away after installing an aftermarket intake system? I'm not really interested in upping my truck's intake/exhaust game, but it would be helpful in pinpointing the source.

 

My 2021 F250 7.3 has the faint whistle, kinda like a throttle body spacer but much more subtle.
It never bothered me enough to chase the source.

 

So my 2020 F450 has a "whistle" as well and I took it to the dealer for other things and they could not figure out what it is. It is a slight whistle between 35 and 45 miles per hour only audible when your foot isnt on the gas pedal so that leads me to believe it is a throttle body/air intake something or other. Just my .02 cents

 

I've heard this whistle and I've noticed it at various speeds and I think it's usually somewhere around 1500rpms. I have dealer looking at it. Not sure if it's something serious but good to know it could just be nothing.

 

So my truck is still.in the shop no update on my loud whistle-high pitch noise but I'm driving a f150 w-10spd and I swear I'm hearing it still... the on-off high pitch whistle must be from the 10spd? But aren't they different from each other or similar enough to make the same noises?

 

I have both. I get a high pitched whine from my 6 speed on long tows.
