I got this truck as is. It has an electric fuel pump and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. But both do not seem to be installed the best.
First, the external electric fuel pump is in the center of the truck along with the fuel filter. Or what looks like a large fuel filter to me. Maybe a water separater? Shouldn't the pump and filter be closer to the fuel tank?
I want to replace the fuel pump as it seems like it might be going out anyways. Any suggestions? I've only ever built old school Japanese cars. So I'm not sure what size fuel pump is needed, especially when it comes to diesel.
The fuel pressure regulator. The fuel lines are HORRIBLY installed. I would love to replace with a cleaner fitting kit. The way it's set up now is a definite fire hazard. Does fuel line kit exist? Also, what fuel pressure should I be looking for?
That looks like a homemade E-fuel, you could probably reuse most of the stuff and just clean it up a bit. As for fuel pump and pre filter just replace both, since its mounted in thr center I'm assuming its on the frame rail which is OK.
Yikes. I would buy a good efuel kit. Salvage what you can, junk the rest. Looks like a hack job at best.
Also, replace those OE boots for CCV to turbocharger and plenum ones. Riffraff has boss ones for $75. Replace plenum to snail oring while in there. May as well do HD glow plug relay from Stancore while there.

I agree with this. Looks like good lines and a good regulator. You can pick up a new pump if needed and new filters. Clean up the install and you are good to go.
