I just want to share with you the results of the restoration I have done to the wheels in my F100.
Some time ago I was doubting about to restore or not the wheels in my truck, but have finally decided to go ahead. The wheels had some surface rust I wanted to remove so I have proceeded..
I have jacked it up wheel after wheel and worked on one wheel at a time.
Working on the rear RH Wheel..
Covered the side walls to protect the rubber.! Primed twice each wheel and also sprayed twice with argent color...
LH side view once finished..
RH side view
Hubcaps to be put tomorrow when all is completely dry.
I am happy with the result, and believe the truck looks much better than before.!
Very nice, I like how original you've kept it nothing looks better.
I wouldn't mention it if you didn't have such a nice original look and maybe you know or don't care, but your front fuel tank cap is supposed to be body color. nice pickup.

Thank you very much buddy.! Yes, I try to keep her as original as possible, I like that look.!
No, I didn’t know that.! Though the AUX gas tank was chrome. So, how can I get one.? Any vendor offers that option or should I paint myself the gas cap.? Different shape cap.? Thanks.!
Since you're going to have to paint it anyway the one you have will work. if you don't have a little matching paint getting that will be the toughest part.
Yes, that would be the toughest part, specially because I am in a tiny island in the Western Mediterranean.! But I will work on that and one day I will get a paint match.!

They're almost too nice to put hub caps or wheel covers or trim rings on them. I like them! My rig came to me with the white steelies and dog-dish hub caps.
To me, nothing beats the look of the originals in these trucks, with or without caps. I was going to restore the originals on my
77 4x4, but wanting to 33x10.50s made me order a 15x8 from wheel vintiques. What size tire is that mounted on yours? I've got a good set of P235/75/15s I was thinking about mounting on the original 15x5.5s to put on my 68 F100.
Nice job, the color choice looks great. 2 cents for next time you have to jack the front end of the truck up. Just put your jack under the twin I beam/tire you want off the gound. Go in from the front and locate the point right where the radius are connects to the I beam. Jacking it from the point you used, made you jack it all the way up until the suspention hit full droop and then started lifting the tire.

I'll bet that's what is on Josep66's truck. I got a set of Goodyear Wranglers in that size from Walmart for cheap!
That’s what I was thinking meangreen. These are the BFG Rugged terrains I got from there for $79 a tire.
just trying to make sure they will fit. Desperate to get them off these damn wagon wheels that came on the 68 F100(now
on the 77 F150 to get it driveable). No offense to the guys that like them, but I just hate them.

Yes! I also like the look they have without the hubcaps. But I guess I will finally put them again, like them too

You are right, for me too, they look great both ways.!
Mines are 235/75/15 tires

Thank you Sir.! This is the most accurate to original I could find here, so I went for it.
In the photo I posted, with the jack in the LH front wheel, (that was the first I restored), I probably didn’t do the job correctly. Then, when I ended in the RH front wheel, I realized that would be better to jack her up from the front, and directly to the twin I beam you mention. It was easier.! Thanks for the tip, now I know for next time.

As I said, my tires are 235/75/15. Don’t know if they are the original size (wheels are as I can see the Ford factory marks), but I am not replacing them now.

Same to me, just because I don’t like that look doesn’t means someone could love it, it is just me.
By the way, while restoring the wheels, I thought I could have painted the rear drums and make them look better, but let it sat like they were, well, cleaned/sanded the surface rust they had. Is it a good idea to prime and paint (semigloss black.?) the drums now that I haven’t put the hubcaps on yet.? Which color for the primer.?
