I’ve been reading around looking for the quantity of catalyst to add to the 2K paint. I see some places they say 4:1 and others 2:1.
I guess the 4:1 will take longer to completely dry, and the 2:1 will go much faster. So what do you guys recommend.?
To paint the gas tank cap and some touch ups, maybe the 2:1 formula will work..
It has nothing to do with how fast the paint will dry it has to do with what the manf. recommends for the type of paint being used.
You ALWAYS use the same manf. for paint / thinner / catalyst and mixed as per the manf.
If you start mixing & matching you can end up with issues. Maybe not right when painting but could be in a year or more as in getting dull or flaking off.

Joseph- We use the same paintbrand in Norway. When I was doing some detailed work I went to the shop that mix and sells these 2k spraycans, asked if I could buy the paint over the counter without beeing mixed. Wasn’t any problem....BUT it was very expensive. A 1/2 a quarter of raw paint, thinner and hardner was around 180€.
They have scanned my originalpaint so I have a code for it. Mixing messurments was easy. He wrote down a note for me. If I remember it correctly it was 50/50 and 10% with hardener...Have to try on the side first, cause to much of the other made the paint both hard to work with or pale.
Nice rims! Do you have all hubcaps? The dog dishes? Sitting on 5 used ones here that I have retired.

Yes, thank you buddy.! It’s almost the same here but I went to a different store and get 300ml regular paint for 19€ that matched the truck’s body. They put their camera towards the body and get the formula.! Then I have to mix the hardener and thinner (if necessary!) and voila.! The recommendation was 2:1 so we painted and I am very happy with the result. First we sanded the cap, applied some primer and after it went dry, painted.. I am very happy. And yes, they have also saved the formula so if I need more, they can reproduce.
Thanks.! The wheels looked good to me, and I haven’t still put the hubcaps.! I have them but like to the actual look. I will finish by putting them again,!
Yes, I follow your thread and all look great, you have a nice truck.!
