Making new rear interior panels

My interior panels for the back of my '79 bronco were in poor condition, hacked up for speakers, moldy, with the cardboard warped. I decided to make news ones with 1/4 plywood and cover them with fabric. I'm thinking that I like the wood look and am going to stain them to match the fake wood on the dash. Anyone else make new interior panels?

My front seats are tan and I'm trying to add some brown to the back of the bronco to kinda make the tan seats not look so out of place. At least that is the idea, not sure if it'll all flow together when I get the panels done, I can always cover them later if they look terrible I guess.

Not like finding green late model seats was going to happen.

I like the idea of the stain. I wonder if there's some sort of coating you could put over it once they're stained to waterproof them / keep them from getting banged up.
Post pics of your progress.

One coat of color and two of clear. I'm no wood worker, but I think it turned out pretty well. Did a coat of clear on the backside too in case they get wet at some time.

Old verses new. I have about $35 in these.

Thank you for sharing your interior panels project!! Nice outcome! Question for you (new to the Bronco scene) - did the side panels always come wrapped/upholstered, or did some come stock with plain (black) chipboard/particle board? Wanting to clean up the interior, with hopes of keeping it "stock" - but do understand some parts might not be able to be readily available..

My side panels were padded/upholstered over a cardboard type material, probably because my bronco is an XLT.
