Yeah well, not as exciting as finding a Centurion or anything.. but saw two Broncos for the first time ever in a salvage yard today. One has a completely rust free tailgate for $150 and the other had perfect late model rear interior panels and trim I can have for $25 (been searching for rear panels since I bought my truck)
Someone get excited with me, all my friends and family think i'm nuts
Oh yeah, it's not those cardboard panels either, it's the nice soft vinyl bound plastic ones. In that ugly old-ford red color.. they have interior lights, arm rests, ash trays.. straight bling
I was going to make my own.. I took the cardboard panels out of my 1980 to use so I could cut wood or metal panels, then accidently left them in the rain and they warped, grr. Not having panels in the rear makes my Bronco look so cheap. I'm a lot more excited about this than I should be, but seriously, it feels like Christmas
Also considering picking up the seats in it, though I'm sorta holding out for some nice late model leather seats and center console.
I wonder if they'll let me go nuts picking up some of the electronics. I'd love to have some backup harnesses, motorcraft sensors, etc. Both of these Broncos looked like they drove in there, sad but I could probably get them both driving with a gallon of gas and 15 minutes with a wrench.
Yeah, alot of yards will straight out sell you the whole truck for scrap value plus some. I got a IROC camaro that way for $200, all it needed was a tune up and fluids changed Then I sold it for an easy 1200. Congrats on the panels. I've left my truck out in the rain before lots, but thankfully I have the plastic panels and not cardboard...Tho my EB leather seats make me leary about getting too wet.
That sucked.. when I was leaving, the owner complained that I was taking the speakers.. I just didn't feel like unbolting them. I think he just didn't like that I was taking soo much stuff.. "uh, how much for all the trim pieces and panels out of the rear of this bronco", took me 3 trips to carry the stuff
then, of course, I forgot one of the trim pieces for the top. I'm mad over this, I'm sure the guy threw it away when I left.. grr
Still, panels are in and they look terrible! Rear panels are red, mid trim is black and front trim is blue.
I seen a rattlecan solution for your problem somewhere. Its a special spray paint for plastics. Iv'e seen it used and it seems to be fairly durable as well.
