Morning all. I am looking for replacement tie rod ends for my 1972 F250 4x4 with Dana 44 HD front end. Are they different from the standard Dana 44 front end? And where is a good source for them?
Just looked on RockAuto.com, and they only list one variant for 4WD. 2WD has different ones depending on front axle. Will check my original Ford parts catalog when I get to the computer.
I see there is a NAPA in San Jose del Cabo. Maybe another closer. I would use RockAuto to look up several brands part numbers and then go to your local parts store. Think it would be faster than trying to get shipped from the States...dunno...
Thanks amigo, I will look on Rock Auto, but mostly they do not let me put in the Dana 44 HD front end. It is closed knuckle, with 12 bolts, and the large diameter hubs. If I can locate them in the USA, I can have them shipped to San Diego, where a company called 'Aero Burro' handles the shipping from there. His store, 'Plumb Loco' is in Los Barriles, about 15 Km North of where I am. Most of the gringos here use his service to get mail and packages sent down, so that they actually arrive. His agents at the border, watch the customs like a tiger with cubs, so nothing goes missing.
Thanks very much for your quick reply... Stay safe, happy, and virus free..
I looked on Rockauto, but it does not say if it is the same part for the Dana 44 HD front end or for all 4x4's. I know that the knuckles and hubs are different, but not if the tie rod and the ends are beefier also?? I am hoping that ND will chip in and set me straight...
Thanks amigo, the Rockauto has 'em and so will I pretty soon. Hope everyone North of the border is doing as well as we are here in La Ribera, Baja.. No cases of the virus yet. some were reported in Cabo, but it turned out to be only One, and he brought it from Florida, and is sequestered at his house in Cabo, 60 miles from LR... Meanwhile, I am enjoying days at the beach in front of our place and we usually have 3 or 4 miles of beach all to ourselves... I know, I know, its tough, but somebody has to do it... Here is the wife and the old trick, sequestering.
