Hey Folks,
I'm finally able to put some money back into my truck and this month's task is to get the front end squared away so I can get it aligned with all new parts.
Up next on my list are the tie-rods. I have checked around between Advance and Napa and I'm a little confused. The part listings for the Moogs show a "4wd" tie rod end and a tie rod end for "vehicles with axl's over 4200lbs" and a note that it's for a RWD.
Soooo, which is which??? Has anyone dealt with this before? I mean the Dana 50 is a 4600 lb axl if I recall yet if you have a Dana 50 up front than wouldn't it be considered a 4wd? I looks like the major difference (just from reading) is that the two parts have different threads.
Any input is much appreciated. And If anyone has any suggestions on a more cost-effective brand OR a better reason not to go with Moog parts I'd love to hear. I know Rockauto has a ton of "cheaper" parts but by time you add the shipping cost of them it's more cost-effective to order them thru Advance Auto online and using a coupon code.
I hate to sound like a cheap-a$$ but dang these suspension parts are adding up quickly....
welp, I price shopped the Moog parts. Advance was a total ripoff (even with a 30% off coupon code). RockAuto ended up having the best price...$250 for all the parts, shipped. that included the sleeves too. The shipping on rockauto is what usually kills it for me but I think it was only $10.
So all in all I got the moogs and once they're installed she's off for a front end alignment! with all new parts up there this things better drive nice...at least for the first 20,000 miles or so until something wears out again.
