Okay ladies and gentlemen, I need to pick your brains. I have a 94 standard cab f150. I have a 40/20/40 seats and I hate them super bad. They are actually in real good condition if anyone wants to buy them but the lumbar doesn't work and the foam just doesn't compare to the cushiness of a bench seat. Anyhow I bought a bench seat from a 87-91 work truck. Base model, brown vinyl, both sides slide and the back folds down, no headrest just a flat top. I am very happy with my purchase as I only paid 38 dollars!! Anyhow, I want to put a reupholstery kit on it, the foam is fine but the color is wrong, I want it to either be black leather, black velour, or a mix of both. I am looking at the kits LMC truck has for about 200 bucks. They have a really nice black one that is velour on the seat bottoms but vinyl in the middle. I am in love with it. Problem is, the listing says it is for an 80-86 truck and the options for the 87-91 trucks are less appealing. I am hoping all that changed in the design was the pattern of the material, and the seat didn't get thicker or thinner or something and maybe I can use the kit for an 80-86 truck on a 87-91 seat. Looking at the pictures they look like the same thickness but I can't be sure. If all it comes down to is I need to cut an extra hole for a bracket or something then that is minty and I can figure that out but I don't want it to be baggy or too tight to put on.
P.S. I love this website. There is always one guy that knows the answer to my mickey mouse hillbilly frankenstein project problems! Thank you!
I am not sure that thread answers my question. To clarify, I know that the bracketry will fit into the truck, but will a reupholstery kit that is listed for an 80-86 truck fit an 87-91 seat? They have different part numbers and different designs in the LMC catalogue. I am concerned that the upholstery kit may be too small or too large for the seat cushion. The seats from 80-86 are different than 87-91, I just want to know how they are different and what changed.
