i thought i'd share this , since a lot of us have seat issues....since i never did fork out the $ for front bucket seats, and it can't happen in the near future, and i wore out my last pair of bucket seat covers. i was puzzling with what to do about my worn out seats.the bottoms were the worst. i had bolstered up the outbound side on the drives seat, but the seat material was even too frail to sew back together.the backs looked good on both of the.... then i had an idea. last year i covered the rear facing backs of the benches with nice grey fabric right over the ugly dark grey fuzzy stuff. i sprayed 3m adhesive on it, (big green can!! other stuff not 3M failed ) and tucked in the corners. looked good, and still does.
so i tried the same method on the seat bottoms of the front buckets. i cut grey material to size of seat bottom, with 1-2 in extra. then, after glueing in a patch over the really bad driver seat bottom, i sprayed the seat and cloth with the adhesive. then i firmly pressed them together, taking care to really push the material into all the creases. the new bottoms look good!!.
i ended the material out of sight behind the seat at the rear, and below the front. the side margins are folded in and glued down against the original piping i did not go over the sides. the cloth i put on is close to the grey original color, but is different in texture, but, for very little money i have presentable seats again!!! i'm suprised at how well they look, and the glue has held well... maybe that will help someone else too! i am very pleased with the outcome. they were pretty bad previously. rick
