C6 swap from e4od

90 F250 7.3L 4x4 supercab. Previously an e4od transmission.

Picked up the c6 from a zf5 swap PO. He provided the vacuum control component (located at injection pump) and the speedometer attachment (located at back of c6). He left the wiring and “brain” or “computer” (located inside driver’s kick panel) in his truck.

e4od wiring in my truck is significant. Lots of wires. 14 wires to 2 connectors. 4 wires to male/female connector to 2 connectors.

E4od transmission end wiring

the neutral safety/reverse lights connector on c6 is 4 wires to female connector. (Same connector on e4od 4 wire connecting to two 2 wire connectors.

C6 neutral safety/reverse lights connector

the e4od wiring neutral safety/reverse light also has two connectors splitting off.
one to the transfer case

Transfer case connector

and the other is a question

I have parted out an 88 F250 7.5L 4x4 c6 with the “brain” or “computer” and wiring.
Is this transferable?
is it worth the effort?
anything else you see is appreciated.
thanks

No electronics on a c6 other than for the reverse/neutral safety sensor

Looking at the 88 F250 7.5 c6 4x4...
the 4 wire to male/female connection to two 2 wire connectors is attached to transfer case front (pic above)
and rear to (?) speedometer attachment.

as already said, no computer needed for the trans.
the two wires going to the speedometer cable head are for cruise control.
two wires going to neutral safety switch, other two are for reverse lights. i want to say NSS wires are red/blue, or blue/red.
transfer case wires are for 4 high and 4 low indicator lights.

Hey thanks,....hope ya dont have to say it again...though..

pulled c6 “harness” from F250 7.5 c6 4x4 from trans/transfer to driver’s fender well and thats
a few wires for nothing.

also, pulled e4od harness same as above and guess well just cut off the connector and figure out
what wires are for nss for now.???

onward and upward

Looks like there are identical green connectors for e4od (right) and c6.
not sure yet what the single black/blue stripe wire is for on c6 harness.

But the c6 doesn't have a harness to speak of, just two connectors; b/u lights and neutral safety.

So the nss connector on c6 harness from donor 7.5L c6 is keyed differently than c6 nss in my truck.

considering using the nss from donor....

also, the single green wire and black 2 wire connector on donor harness goes to the nss.
in the donor truck it is fed from a red wire and green wire.

What to connect this too at fender well connections...

Howdy and thanks lone wolf.

Pulled the e4od harness out and have the wiring from 88 F250 7.5L c6 4x4.
here is the pic

the smaller harness at right is for the 4x4 hi lo indicator light (be nice to have but not required) and the cruise control (deleted on this truck) at speedometer cable connection on the rear of transfer case..

the green connector is identical and plugs into the connector on drivers fender well. Wires are all pretty much the same color (only slightly different stripe shades on a few).
There are 8 on both e4od and c6. The e4od terminates into that mess it is...

2 wires (red/orange stripe and black) from this green connector of the c6 terminates into the nss connector..
1 wire (green/blue stripe) to the nss comes from the single black connector on fender well..?

also, the connector from nss is keyed differently than connector from donor harness and going to use the nss from 7.5L c6.

Any input is appreciated.
thanks.

Wait a minute..

the black connector at trans end with the 3 wires is an unknown termination point at this time...

the 2 grey connectors feed the nss connector and the transfer case connectors (hi/lo lights and cruise)

the nss on left is the 7.3L c6 with the different connector

the nss in center is from 7.5L c6 which connects to harness. Looks the same otherwise.
