I run a 91 eco tune empty and a 91 tow tune with a 13k gooseneck horse trailer. The eco tune runs circles around the tow tune empty. Tow tune no trailer on the highway (60 mph) does 12-14 depending on wind, eco on same stretches consistently gets 15-17. I don’t notice all that much difference in drive ability but the eco tune clearly is doing something more efficiently.
Anyone run SCT tuning then switch to 5 Star? Thoughts? I only have the AFE Momentum intake and res./muffler delete. Thx.
on a nearly stock truck I don’t know that you’ll tell much difference power wise canned tune to custom tune, the shift points are what most notice. You aren’t going to tell the 10 hp difference

What he said with one exception. I switch over to the 93 octane tow tune when towing making sure that I am running 93 octane fuel. There is a noticeable difference in low end. I drive with the cruise off, by my foot, and put it in manual. At interstate speeds, I can hold at 70-75 MPH never going above 3000 RPM. That is where I wished I had 4:30 gears instead of 3:73's. No tune that I know of can fix that. My last camping trip was the hardest I have ever pulled in my life.
What's the difference between five stars BDX, GTX, and Ngauge? Which one is best?
I havent used a BDX or GTX. Right now i have the Ngauge and I like it. i had a SCT X4, until i switched. The Ngauge uses HP tuning software. The BDX and GTX are SCT tuning software. Either software will work fine. its a matter of preference.

x2. They all do the same thing just whatever your preference for leaving hooked up for gauges or putting in glove box
Just added tuning from 5 Star in December. Using the SCT X4 tuner running an 87 Octane Performance tune. Love it! It really woke the truck up. No more hesitation at low end. Was considering the SCT Live Wire but decided I didn't really want to spend the extra and have the tuner attached to the windshield. I plug in my X4, load a tune, unplug, store the tuner and go.
Prior to the tuner I added an S&B Cold Air Intake. Can hear more intake noise now. Even felt more responsive with just the CAI before the tuner was added.
Next will be adding a Stainless Works full exhaust....headers with high flow cats and cat back rear exit system.

I’m looking at the 5star tuning tunes. Anyone know the difference between the eco, daily towing, and performance tunes? I can’t find anything on there website.
the difference is in the trans shift patterns. economy tune is fast shifts into higher gear. tow tunes hold shift a little longer, and firmer shifts. performance tune holds shifts for much higher RPM.
