That aint no lie on the tranny. Truck actually has good power just the stock shift strategy just sucks and the converter doesn’t stay locked in. It does now and its great tranny actually helps slow you down when downshifting as well. I cant see myself not tuning from here on out either now.

Lamoon, how is the tune treating you after having some miles on it? I would love to modify the shift pattern on my rig in normal mode. I love the upshifting in tow haul but don't want the downshifts when empty.

I love it I solely run the tow tune. The hard downshifts wont happen when not in tow haul mide.

This is awesome to hear. So in normal mode, it shifts at higher rpms and holds gears longer? You also mentioned it licks the converter in normal mode sooner? Thx for your input man!

Yes you will like it. I was skeptical about it and some guys I work with talked me into trying it and so far I dont regret it at all. Truck responds and acts like it should.

i just ordered the 93 tow and performance tunes this morning. i usually run the 87 performance and then the 87 when towing. with gas being so cheap i wanted to try it. i have also been looking at getting the headers since i have discount code for stage3 but i cant find any dyno numbers to justify the purchase.

I run the 87 daily tow tune every single day. It’s awesome. I like how it locks out 6th until above 50 mph. I hated how it would shift into 6th at 40 mph. Most speed limits around here in town are 35-45 and in 6th the rpm isn’t high enough to keep the speed up if going up a slight incline or something. I’ve also run the 87 economy and the 87 performance. I definitely recommend 5 star tuning. Another plus is the throttle response. Wow. I can beat most cars and trucks on the road today straight off the line at a red light. The towing difference is noticeable also. I’m just also going to point out that the daily tow tune is safe for daily driving and also safe for towing. In the past, tow tunes were separate from daily driving tunes. The way the daily tow tune works is that when you turn on the tow/haul, the daily tow tune interacts with it. It holds the truck in the same gear and won’t let it shift until above 2000 rpm. This is very nice for in town driving. Plus the added power is there.

But if you really want to drag race somebody and you’re unloaded, turn that tow/haul on, pedal to the metal, and watch the magic happen.

great post, thank you!! 5 star tunes are in my near future for sure. My truck is already a blast to drive in stock form, sounds like tuning is going to increase the smile on my face!
