2012 vs 2016

I was going to buy a new power wagon to replace my recently deceased Avalanche, but all the new car dealers are shut down tight. There is a used car dealer that has a couple of truck I am interested in.
There is a 2012 crew cab with a 3.5 and a 2016 extended cab with a 2.7. Both are XTR with about the same miles and the same level of other options. The 12's asking price is just shy of $16k ad the 16's asking is just shy of $19k
I need 6 seats because I have 4 kids, but it is pretty rare for us all to get into the truck instead of the minivan. They are still small, but they will likely all hit 6' before I sell if I keep this one till it is as old as the Avalanche.

What would you pick?
What to look out for?

If I were in your shoes, I’d definitely go for the 2016.

You don't say anything about towing or hauling if anything...

based on how I used the avalanche, relatively infrequent towing, and ocasionally filling the bed with wood, or one of the heaviest snowmobiles made in recent history. I have towed heavier than the 2.7 tow rating a time or two with the avalanche, but I sold that trailer.
Then again, I didn't own it when I got the avalanche either

All the new car dealers are shut down in Michigan? They're all open here in Texas, maybe you need to make a road trip.

Same here even in California all dealers are open for sales and service. Its actually very nice with no lot hawks to follow you around. Working on buying a new expedition for the wife and its all digital purchase through docu sign. Easiest thing ever!!

Yup. The governor has gone off the deep end. I could probable count the number of cases in a 50 mile radius on one hand, but better to put people out of work and confined as apposed to let it run its course and let a natural immunity build up. The latest one is that going out on the pontoon boat with the family is outlawed, but canoes are fine.

I guess not technically order closed, but so many obstacles to business that they just shut down save Internet sales, and no F2F repair operations. I get the feeling the used car guy is desperate to dump inventory that is draining his savings in a big hurry, that he is more willing to jump through those hoops. I'm not going to blow that much money without a test drive and at least talking to someone on the phone.
if I had to guess, the OEMs will cover the floor planning of new vehicles with our tax dollars.

Herd immunity is going to build either way, but the shelter-in-place will do it in such a way as to avoid overwhelming the healthcare system. If you overwhelm healthcare, you'll end up with what they had in Italy.

Well, the 12 has a rusty frame, and the 16 is too small

There should be lots of crew cabs around on dealer lots. Either in your state or out of state. Maybe Indiana or Illinois or Ohio is open for business. I can see having 4 small kids and a scab would be a pain. Been there done that and I had a console truck... stepdaughter and my youngest son shared a seat belt. Not ideal but it worked for us. Although screws with the 40-20-40 seats aren't as popular as console models. You may have to look a little harder.
