Long crank time after maintenance, with logs
I finally cranked this thing after some updates and PM. The crank time seems very long, the logs indicate it is taking a long time to build pressure for some reason. I did pull the plugs on the oil rails and installed an HPX only to pull it back off after learning some things on here. The factory plugs were reinstalled. I figured I would suck the hpop oil out and put fresh in while I was at it. That is all I did that was oil system related, aside from switching to Rotella 5w-40 synthetic (have no idea what was in it before).
This truck cranked really quick before I tore it down. Could the oil viscosity make for long crank times or an air bubble trapped? It looks to be taking a while to build pressure from the logs. Also, the EOT is doing a funky oscillating, is that normal?
I haven't driven it yet, just idled while doing the coolant flush.
And another after a little more running:

I too, once upon a time, changed the oil and installed 0w-40 fully synthetic engine oil. It made for some long crank times and wouldn't start on the first or even second try. I took it to a trusted friend and diesel mechanic and he mentioned changing the high pressure oil pump because that pressure was low. When I mentioned what I had put in it, he said that could be the problem. I dumped that oil out and went back with Kendall 15w-40. No problem since then. That was about 7 years ago. I don't think it gets cold enough in NC to run the lower viscosity oil.

Disregard the ECT temps, they are wrong, not sure if it's a FORscan issue or the actual sensor. This is a ZF6 truck. The gauge oil pressure, it doesn't read anything either until the instant it fires.
I forgot to mention, I did re-Oring the oil cooler and delete the EBPV (with garrett parts).
Usually, 10*F is about as cold as it gets here.

Just FYI, there are in fact two ECT sensors on a ZF6 truck.

Thanks for the links Sous. I just looked, my E99 has nothing but plugs at both locations indicated in those links, and no provisions for the 2nd sensor in the harness - it doesn't branch off. I'm not sure what it is reading in FORscan, but it shows some erratic and ridiculous numbers, negative 203 degrees lol...
